Day 1 — BACC 5060 theory
Physical principle, expansion rate, residual stresses. BACC 5060, ABP 1-4100 standards. Fatigue improvement x3 to x10.
02
Day 2 — Split sleeve + split mandrel practice
Implementation of both techniques. Tooling preparation, execution, post-expansion inspections (diameter, ovality).
03
Day 3 — Applications and qualification
Material cases (aluminium, titanium, stainless steel, Inconel). Theoretical + practical assessment. Certificate awarded.
Prerequisites
- ▸ Aircraft structure experience (minimum 2 years)
- ▸ Ability to read the manufacturer's SRM
- ▸ Initial special processes training desirable but not mandatory
Deliverables
- ▸ Kronos cold working level 2 certificate
- ▸ Cold working operator handbook (procedures, tolerances, inspections)
