Training objectives

The Kronos Engineering NADCAP initial training qualifies your technicians and operators on special processes (automatic and manual shot peening, flapper peening, cold working, HFMI) according to AMS 2430, AMS 2432, AMS 2590, BACC 5060 standards, with Almen intensity to SAE J443 and coverage inspection to SAE J2277.

5-day program alternating theory (2 days) and supervised hands-on practice (3 days) on real equipment. Delivers a Kronos Engineering certificate recognised by the main aerospace OEMs (Airbus, Boeing, Safran, Dassault, ATR) and accepted as proof of initial operator qualification during NADCAP audits.

Detailed curriculum

Day 1 — Principles and standards

Theory of shot peening, residual stresses, fatigue. AMS 2430/2432/2546, BACC 5060 standards. OEM specifications. Quality responsibilities.

Day 2 — Almen intensity and coverage

N/A/C strips, saturation curve build-up, indicator calibration, coverage measurement (visual, PeenScan, colorimetry). Hands-on exercises.

Day 3 — Media and equipment

AMS 2431, granulometry, hardness, batch traceability. Pressure/turbine cabinets, nozzles, turbines, separators, instrumentation. First-level maintenance.

Day 4 — Supervised practice on equipment

Process execution on pilot parts: preparation, masking, parameter setting, execution, inspections. Manual flapper peening included.

Day 5 — Assessment and qualification

Theoretical assessment (MCQ) + practical (full process execution). Award of the Kronos level 2 certificate. Operator documentation.

Prerequisites

▸ Industrial experience of at least 2 years (workshop, MRO, production)
▸ Basic mechanical drawing reading skills
▸ Understanding of stress and fatigue concepts (technical diploma or equivalent experience)
▸ Physical ability to wear PPE (ear protection, goggles, gloves, coveralls)

Is the Kronos initial training accepted as NADCAP qualification?+

It forms the initial educational building block, including coverage inspection to SAE J2277. Final NADCAP qualification remains the responsibility of your employer (operator documentation, practical records on your own installation). Kronos supports this on-site qualification as a complementary service.

Can the training be delivered on the client's premises?+

Yes, from 6 trainees onwards. We bring our trainers and teaching materials — including portable demonstration equipment. Reduced rate compared to the open-enrolment course.

Is process-specific training required?+

The 5-day programme covers common fundamentals + hands-on introduction to the main processes. For advanced qualification on a specific process (e.g. dedicated HFMI, BACC 5060 cold working), we offer complementary specific modules.

What does it cost?+
